Janet Lee Aelker age 80, died early Tuesday Morning, August 21, 2018 in her New Bavaria home surrounded by family.
Her Legacy… She was born January 21, 1938 to Bertram Jim and Laura (Duling) Wortkoetter in Glandorf, Ohio. She graduated from Glandorf High School. On May 21, 1960 she married Lawrence Claudias Aelker in Glandorf. She was the owner of the Holgate Dairy Bar for 18 years until 1997. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, past president of the Rosary Alter Society, church council and a member of the New Bavaria Firemen’s Auxiliary.
Her Family… She is survived by her husband Larry; children: Jeff (Cindy) Aelker, Leipsic, Phil (Cindy) Aelker, Defiance, Kevin (Michelle) Aelker, Napoleon, Chris (Tom) Hattemer, New Bavaria, Steve (Nicole) Aelker, New Bavaria, and Deb Aelker, New Bavaria; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and siblings: Joan Giesige, Kalida, Bob Workoetter, Lima, Tom Workoetter, Cloverdale, Tony (Jill) Workoetter, Glandorf, and Thelma (Bob) Williams, Lima. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Patrick, a brother Bill Workoetter, and a brother-in-law, Ed Giesige.
Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Thursday from 2-4 and 5-8 pm. Everyone will be welcomed into Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Contributions made in Janet’s name can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hospice of Henry County or a charity of your choice.
