Bruce Alfred Rettig

May 29, 1933 — February 9, 2018

Bruce Alfred Rettig age 84, of Holgate, died Friday morning, February 9, 2018 at the CHP Defiance In-patient Hospice Center.

His Legacy… He was born May 29, 1933 in Holgate to Alfred and Helen (Bernicke) Rettig.  Bruce graduated from Florida High School and then served in the United States Army.  He farmed with his father, worked for 30 years for Defiance Milk Products and retired from Campbell’s Soup Company.  He was an avid gun collector and member of the Tri State Gun Collectors in Lima.  He enjoyed cameras and going to the Thrashers Convention in Wauseon.  Bruce was a member of Peace Reformed Church, Napoleon and the Holgate American Legion.

Bruce is survived by his nephew Dennis (Colette) Yetter, Holgate.  He was preceded in death by his sister Marjorie Rettig Yetter.

His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Monday, from 3-8 pm.  On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, you will be welcomed into the Peace Reformed Church, Napoleon at 10:00 am with the celebration of his life at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Altman officiating.  Burial will follow St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery, Holgate with military honor’s accorded by the Holgate American Legion.  Contributions made in Bruce’s memory can be made to Peace Reformed Church or CHP Defiance Hospice.
