Carl Phillip Zimmerman, age 77, died in his rural Napoleon home, Wednesday morning, May 2, 2012.
His Legacy…
He was born October 12, 1934 to Carl and Harriet (Lashaway) Zimmerman in Jackson, MI. He married Gloria Yaichner in 1953. They divorced in 2000. Carl graciously served his country in the Army during the Korean conflict. He retired from trucking, having driven for Harriet Trucking, Yellow Freight, Wayne Glore, Miller Bros. Trucking, and other hauling for local farmers like Rollie Rettig. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Holgate.
His family…
He is survived by his son, Rodney (Gina) Zimmerman, Hoover, AL; grandsons, Warren, Roman, and granddaughter, Jovi; his companion, Phyllis Hogrefe; and a sister, Jean Rogers, Weston.
His Farewell Services… Friends and family will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate, on Thursday, May 10 at 9:30 am where a memorial service will start at 10:30 am with Reverend Jane Hillman officiating. Following the service everyone is invited to St. John’s United Church of Christ, Holgate for a time of food and fellowship. Contributions can be made in Carl’s memory to American Cancer Society or St. John’s United Church of Christ.
