Christina “Tina” Marie Geno, age 69, entered the heavenly gates on April 11 surrounded by her family after a battle with liver cancer. Tina was born on June 27, 1956 to Margaret and the late James Elchinger. She was a 1974 graduate of Patrick Henry High School and a 1978 graduate of Sienna Heights College where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. She married her soulmate, Michael Geno, on September 22, 1979. Together, they had two sons, Elliot and Evan. Tina worked as the arts coordinator at the Henry County senior center from 1999-2019, where she encouraged the residents of Henry County to preserve and hone their art skills. Tina enjoyed helping her sons in the Boy Scouts of America Troop 262 where she helped with earning merit badges and religious emblem awards, was a member of the Wide-Awake-Club in Hamler, a Friend of the Hamler Library, served on the Henry County Arts Council, assisted in the 4-H program, and served on the Altar Rosary society at Sacred Heart Catholic church, where she was a lifelong member. She served on the Sacred Heart flower committee for 13 years, was a CCD teacher for 25 years, and served in the Youth Choir. She instilled the value of hard work in her sons and pushed them to be the best versions of themselves. She wanted them to be well rounded and what she called “Renaissance men”- men who had talents in many areas. Tina enjoyed gardening, decorating her home for the holidays, making flower arrangements, and having themed family parties. She was a talented artist who enjoyed painting in any medium. She was a loving grandma who loved having tea parties, doing crafts and painting, and having “summer camp” with her granddaughters Ava and Zoe.

Tina is survived by her husband, Mike, her two sons Elliot (Amanda) and Evan (Megan Woltmann-) Geno, granddaughters Ava and Zoe Geno, her mother Margaret, brothers Stephen (Julie) Elchinger, Michael (Diane) Elchinger, sister Peg (Michael) Moore, brother-in-law Randy Belden, nine nieces and nephews, and many friends and neighbors. She was welcomed into Heaven by her father James, her in laws James and Angeline Geno, and her beloved sister Mary Elchinger.

The family will welcome friends and family on Thursday, April 16 from 4-7 pm at Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate. A Catholic Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria on Friday, April 17 at 11 am, with a luncheon following in the Sacred Heart Fellowship Hall. The family suggests memorials be made to CHP Hospice Care, Defiance OH, or the Sacred Heart Cemetery Beautification Fund.
