Craig S. Swary age 62, died Sunday, January 2, 2022 at his New Bavaria home.
His Legacy… Craig was born June 29, 1959 to Paul and Marilyn “Tabbie” (Klausing) Swary in Defiance. He graduated from Four County/Holgate High School in 1977. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Craig enjoyed the Buckeyes, Detroit Tigers, and playing golf. He was known as BC; in his day he was a renowned traveling softball player, notorious for his fierce style of play. He was a Holgate Athletic Booster for years. He was a former New Bavaria mayor and current village councilman. Craig just loved his family and friends and helping them. And that love was returned. He was employed by CCNO in maintenance. When he wasn’t “fixing” at work, he was “fixing” for friends and family.
His Family… Craig is survived by siblings: Dave (Jean) Swary, New Bavaria, Randy (Anne) Swary, Defiance, Rose (Steve) Franz, Lima, Al (Lynn) Swary, Holgate, Phil (Chris) Swary, Maumee, Tina (Darrell) Botjer, Deshler, Melanie (Steve) Hoffman, Westerville, Jon (Lisa) Swary, Holgate, Brenda (Randy) Smiley, Hellertown, PA and Lynn (Andrew) Clady, New Bavaria and 25 nieces and nephews. Craig was preceded in death by his parents and two nieces.
His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Family Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Friday from 2-8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, checks can be written to the Holgate Athletic Boosters for the benefit of the Liza Clady Memorial Scholarship fund.
