Liberty Center

David Ahleman, 54, of rural Liberty Center, Ohio, passed away at Toledo Hospital following a motor vehicle accident on Monday, September 9, 2024.

David was born on October 20, 1969. David’s parents, Donald and Marilyn (Stevens) Ahleman raised him in rural Liberty Center, Ohio. As a youth, David loved participating in marching band, FFA, 4-H, cattle showmanship, and all things related to the Henry County fair. David graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1988. He continued his education as a sheet metal apprentice through the Sheet Metal Workers Local 33 apprenticeship program.

David married Heidi Honemann in 1996. Though they parted ways in 2020, their families remain forever connected in loving friendship.

David’s career took many interesting turns, working in the fields of welding, dairy farming, and trucking. David was employed at C & C Fabrication, in Napoleon, Ohio. David was an advisor to the Farm Bureau youth program for many years. His hobbies included fishing, playing euchre, talking endlessly about cows, tossing about nieces, nephews and other small children, and ironically, deer hunting. David’s fatal crash was caused by a deer, and the family suspects that he is cracking jokes in heaven about “getting a deer”.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn, and brother, Jeff Spangler.

David is survived by his father Donald Ahleman; sister, Shelley (Jeff) Ahleman-Howell; sister-in-law, Denise Spangler; nieces and god daughters Justine (Jeremiah) Hoeflich and Elizabeth Parsell; nephews Todd (Liz) Spangler and Lucas Parsell; great nephews Hunter, Cole, Dexter, Will and Tripp; great nieces Avery, Everly and Madelyn; and special friend Anne Guyer, as well as Anne's sons, RJ and Sam.

Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by the Zachrich Funeral Home of Holgate. A graveside service will be held at Heath-Colton Cemetery, at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 14th. Meal and fellowship to follow at the Liberty Center High School auditeria, 100 Tiger Trail Liberty Center, Ohio. Those attending should avoid state route 109 en route to the school as a portion will be closed for the Liberty Center Fall Festival.
