Dennis W. Baden

Dennis W. Baden age 76, died Thursday morning, February 22, 2018 in his Hamler home.

His Legacy… He was born September 16, 1941, to Walter and Dorothy (Benien) Baden. Denny graduated from Hamler High School in 1959. In 1963 he joined the Ohio Air National Guard and went to basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.  When he returned, he went to work at Campbells.  On September 25, 1965 he married Roberta “Louise” Upp in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon.  In 1966 he went to work full time at the 180th fighter wing of the Ohio Air National Guard Base in Toledo and retired in 1999. Denny was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler.  He enjoyed farming and flying his plane.  He was always tinkering with his 20 year restoration, the ‘65 Mustang.  When he wasn’t watching grandchildren’s activities, he was talking military, farming, or planes and flying.

His Family… Dennis is survived by his wife Louise; children: Steve (Tricia) Baden, Hamler, Jeff (Tina) Baden, Whitehouse, and Jenny (Bart) Welte, Findlay, and Kristi (Brandon) Gerdeman, McComb; grandchildren: David, Andrew, Tyler, Troy, Jessica, Karissa, Grant, Lylah and a grandson on the way; a brother Vernon Baden, Hamler; a sister Barbara (John) Burson, Perrysburg; a step-brother Ronnie Fisher, Napoleon; and a step-sister Juanita Duncan, Defiance.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law Margaret Baden and his step- mother Marcella Fisher Baden.

His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Monday from 2-8 pm and again on Tuesday at the church, one hour before the service.  The celebration of his life will be Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 11:00 am in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler with Reverend Douglas DeWitt officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon with military honor’s accorded by the Hamler American Legion.  In lieu of flowers, contributions made in memory of Dennis should be made to the church, Hamler Heritage Society, or a charity of your choice.
