Dyle Jason Roth

Dyle Jason Roth age 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 17, 2025. He was born on November 4, 1931 at his family’s farm in Defiance, Ohio, near Ayersville. Dyle was named after the doctor who delivered him, Dyle Jason Schlosser. His parents were Evelyn (Rigg) Roth and Arthur D. Roth from Defiance. Dyle graduated from Ayersville High School in 1949 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Defiance College. Dyle was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Army as an instructor for other soldiers completing their GEDs. Upon discharge, he had the honor and privilege of serving Holgate Local Schools for 32 years, continuing driving a school bus for athletic teams in retirement. Dyle served in many roles during his time at Holgate, starting as an educator, becoming a principal, and finishing his career as a superintendent. During his time as an educator, he earned his master’s degree from Bowling Green State University. He also coached basketball, baseball, and cross country. Dyle married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Eleanor (Brehm) Roth on February 16, 1951. They shared 74 years of marriage together.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor; children: Barry (Audrey Lynn) Roth, Defiance, Robin Ball, Defiance, Mike (Judy) Roth, Zanesville, IN and son-in-law Tracy (Christine) Stack, Lake Lure, NC; grandchildren: Chad (Jen) Roth, Danica (Brian) Roehl, George (Jessica) Roth, Adam (Sarah Brosch) Ball, Alex (Katie) Ball, Denver and Spencer Roth, Ryan (Kat) and Riley Stack; 8 great-grandchildren: siblings: Patricia Vandermark, Defiance and DuWayne (Paula) Roth, Defiance. He was preceded in death by his parents and parent in laws, George and Louise Brehm, daughter Karen (Roth) Stack, son-in-law Richard Ball, and a granddaughter Morgan Roth.

Friends will be received in the Zachrich Family Funeral Home of Holgate on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 1-4:00 and 5-8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Defiance from 9-11:00 am. The Celebration of Dyle’s Life will start at 11:00 am with Reverend Dave Brobston officiating. Burial will follow in Ayersville Cemetery with military honors. Preferred memorials are to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Defiance or CHP Hospice “To Light the Way” fund.
