Glenda F. Matney

Glenda F. Matney age 66, of Defiance died Monday morning, January 23, 2017 at the Toledo Hospital.
Her Legacy… She was born July 11, 1950 to Richard and Magdalene (Layne) Matney in Patterson, VA. She graduated from Grundy Senior High in 1968. On December 25, 1969, she married Fred Matney. Glenda has always been a go getter. She was a self-employed photographer, owner and operator of Magna-Dry Carpet Cleaning, an Ayersville Pilot enthusiast, assistant director for many Ayersville musicals, and Grandmother Extraordinaire.
Her Family… Glenda is survived by her loving husband, Fred; son, Freddy W. Matney, II (and wife, Erin), El Paso, TX; daughter, Maggie Westrick (and husband, Matt), New Bavaria; grandchildren, Hunter Matney, Freddy Matney III, Landon Matney, Jackson Westrick, Scarlett Koenemann, Gavin Westrick and Emmett Westrick; great granddaughter, Alexanne Matney; siblings: Richalene Lester, Blountville, TN, Barbara Garrett, Richmond, VA and Richard Matney, Evansville, IN. She was preceded in death by a daughter Wendy Matney-Dahlie, a brother Terry Matney and sisters Donna Fleming and Penny Matney.
Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The celebration of Glenda’s life will be in Emanuel’s Christian Church, New Bavaria on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Glenda asked that contributions be made to Sisters in Service for the acquisition of a PTSD Service Dog for her deserving son, U.S. Air Force MSgt Freddy W. Matney, II.
