Harold A. Brubaker age 87, of Hamler, died Tuesday morning, March 28, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee.

His Legacy… He was born November 9, 1929 to Raymond J. and Elnora (Mack) Brubaker in Hamler.  In 1948 he graduated from Hamler High School.  On February 16, 1957 he married Cleo VanAtta. Harold was drafted into the United States Army and was a corporal during the Korean War.  He was a vegetable, grain farmer and upon discharge from the Army, he began a turkey operation producing hatching eggs that eventually grew into a family business that spanned across Northwest Ohio.  He also served as a Marion Twp. Trustee for 14 years.  He was an active member of the Disciple of Christ at St. Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Napoleon and the American Legion Post 262.  He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, camping, and harness horse racing.  Upon retirement was a resident of Orange City, FL, where they enjoyed friends, golfing and afternoon gatherings at each other’s residence.

His Family… He survived by his wife of 60 years; daughter, Jayma Anne (David) Gobrogge, Ridgeville Corners and a son, Gregory Scott (Patricia) Brubaker, Sylvania; grandchildren, Wade Gobrogge, Breeanne (Kevin) York, Amanda (Seth) Metzger, Cassandra (Kevin) Brown, and Nicholas Brubaker; great granddaughters, Samantha, Abigail, Lauren, Elizabeth Metzger and Makayla, Alexandra, Kaelynn, and Carina Brown and 1 great grandson Kasen Brown on the way; siblings, Mary Lou Hoke, Beatrice (Neil) Jettinghoff, and Leo (Diane) Brubaker and sister-in-law, Dolly Brubaker.  Harold was preceded in death by children Harold, Joseph, Mary, and Elizabeth; a grandson Brett David Gobrogge; a sister Teresa (Bruce) Smith and brothers Richard (Doris) Brubaker and George Brubaker, and brother-in-law, John Hoke.

His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with a wake service that afternoon at 1:30 pm.  Friends will be welcomed at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Hamler on Saturday April 1, 2017  at 9:30 am.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am with Father Nick Cunningham officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery.  Contributions made in Harold’s memory can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
