Hunter Thomas Gerschutz, 23, passed away far too soon, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a love that will never fade. He was born on June 28, 2003 to Debra Clement and Thomas Gerschutz. He attended Holgate Local Schools, graduating in 2022. During his time there he played multiple sports giving him a sense of purpose. Since then, he has been working with Premier Patching. If you knew Hunter, you knew his energy. He was fun, outgoing, athletic, and always ready for a good time. He had a way of bringing life into every room he entered and making the people around him laugh and smile. He loved being active and living life to the fullest. Whether he was attending concerts, spending time with friends and family playing pool and poker, or simply enjoying the moment, Hunter knew how to make memories. He was the kind of person people wanted around, the one you could count on for an adventure, a laugh, or a story you’d remember for years. At just 23 years old, his life was only beginning, which makes his loss incredibly difficult to understand and accept. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on those who loved him will last a lifetime.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his father, Thomas Gerschutz; his mother, Debra Clement; his siblings: Joshua (Nichole) Gerschtz, Garrett (Stephanie) Gerschutz, Mariah (Alex) Black, Cheyenne Gerschutz (Dustin Scott), Rusty (Bionca) Ault; and his beloved nieces and nephews: Aiden, Amelia, Zeke, Lily, Zoey, Quinn, Wade, Aubrey, Frank. He will also be deeply missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and extended family. Additionally, by his countless friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
We love you, Hunter Thomas. We will miss you more than words can say, and we will carry you with us always. His laughter, his energy, his athletic spirit, and his unmistakable ability to have a good time will live on in the memories we carry with us. Let us all remember to continue to check in with those close to us, even those who are the life of the party.
Friends will be received in the Zachrich Family Funeral Home of Holgate on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 2-7:00 pm. The funeral will be in the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 am with Reverend James Haugen officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Township cemetery, Hamler. Memorial contributions can be made to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
