Ignatius William "Bill" Okuly of Holgate died early Friday morning, June 3, 2011 in his home.
His Legacy… Bill was born April 9, 1942 in New Bavaria to Virgil John and Mathilda Amelia (Gerschutz) Okuly. He married Mary J. Beavers on June 23, 1962 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Holgate. He was a park ranger at Independence State Park. He made well pumps for Heller Aller Windmill in Napoleon. He was a member of the Holgate Lions Club and Knights of Columbus #1039 Defiance.
His Family… He is survived by his loving wife Mary; daughters, Anne (Michael) Sharpe, Liberty Center, Cynthia (James) Kidd, Malinta, Elizabeth Meade (Brian Plotts), Holgate, Lucille Brown (Johnathan Sparks), Defiance; and son John W. Okuly, Holgate; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; and a sister, Linda L. (Vern) Hahn, Defiance. Bill was preceded in death by his sister Georgieann Gibson.
His Farewell Services… A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:30 AM in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Holgate with Father Stephen Stanbery officiating. Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate on Sunday from 1-4 and 5-8 pm with the Rosary being recited at 7:30 pm. Memorial contributions can be made in Bill's honor to Hospice of Henry County or Henry County South Joint Ambulance District.
