Janet Rose Marie (Inkrott) Schumm always had a smile on her face that never went away. Living in Defiance, she died at the age 78, Thursday evening, June 11, 2026 at the Defiance In-patient Hospice Center. She was born in Lima, Ohio on January 24, 1948, to Alma (Zeigler) and Robert Inkrott.

Janet always had a smile on her face that never went away. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Defiance. Janet married Paul Schumm July 9, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church. Janet started her nursing career late in life beginning in 2001 as a homecare LPN. Her dedication is demonstrated in that she had one patient for over 20 years. In fact, she cared for hin days before her 70 day long hospital ordeal began. Janet loved family gatherings. She appreciated the support of her family which enabled her to get through the troubled times of her life. Janet dearly loved her grandchildren. She attended many athletic events, ice skating classic, and dance recitals. Janet was especially proud of her great-daughter Hanna, following in her footsteps as a Physician's Assistant.

Janet shared a love for music with Paul. They attended many local concerts. She loved to sing in church choirs, play the piano, and listen to music at home, and now sings in the heavenly choir.

Janet enjoyed traveling. She embraced Paul's goal to visit all 50 state capitols along with tolerating American battlefields, museums, historical sites and long drives.

Janet is survived by her husband Paul, son Doug (Amanda) Kreinbrink, Findlay, daughter Gina Kreinbrink, Upper Sandusky, stepdaughter Amy (Jamie) Weaks, Columbus, and stepson Tim (Kim) Schumm, Napoleon; 7 grandchildren; brothers Daniel (Bonnie) Inkrott, John (Patty) Inkrott; and sister Joyce (Larry) Inkrott.
