Jean Stober

March 15, 1924 — July 11, 2014

Lila “Jean” Stober, age 90, died Friday evening in her Holgate home surrounded by family.

Her Legacy… She was born March 15, 1924 to Lloyd and Olive (Holmes) Krofft.  Jean graduated from Ada Local Schools in 1942, and attended Ohio Northern, Cleveland Institute of Art, and Otis College of Art in Los Angeles.  On June 28, 1946 Jean married Earl S. Stober.  He preceded her in death on December 6, 2008.  She was a member of the Holgate United Methodist Church, where she was a long time organist, Holgate Legion Auxiliary, past Trustee for Holgate Public Library, initial steering committee for Henry County Hospice, reading tutor at Holgate Elementary, Eastern Star, and Henry County Historical Society.  She was a homemaker, as well as worked in the drafting department at Lima Locomotive Works, and did bookkeeping for Holgate Implement.

Her Family… She is survived by her three sons: Jeffrey, Holgate, Thomas, Coldwater, MI and Mark (Gae Ann) , Oceanside, CA; 6 grandchildren: Jeremy (Kristi), Nick (Brandi), Nate (Erin), Steve, Austin and Jennifer (Lance) Westbrook; step grandchildren: Nathaniel (Becky) VonSeggern, Michael (Cristina) VonSeggern, Bree (Rob) Rybka, Eva VonSeggern, and Lindy (Jon) Diaz; great grandchildren: Jarrod and  Jakob Stober and Makenzie Westbrook; and step great grandchildren: Mason, Elin and Mackenzie VonSeggern, Olivia ZumMallen, and Jeorek Rybka.  Jean was preceded in death by daughter-in-laws Judy Stober, Natalie Stober, and Lesley Warwick, and an infant daughter.

Her Farewell Services… Friends and family will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate on Thursday, July 17 from 2-5 and 6-8 pm, and one hour prior to the service.  The celebration of Jean’s life will be Friday, July 18, 2014 at Holgate United Methodist Church at 10:30am, with Reverend Susan St. Peter officiating.  Burial will follow in Cole Cemetery, Florida, OH.  Contributions made in Jean’s memory can be made to the Holgate United Methodist Church, Henry County Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
