There isn’t enough space to adequately tell this complicated man’s story. He was a self-described ass and smirked while admitting it. He was quick to blow a fuse, but just as quick to do an about face to fix, solve, or take care of whatever the issue. He was the original McGuyver and was always “fixing” things his way and not necessarily the right way, but it always got done. Often described as cheap, he preferred frugal, his need to save and provide for his family was very important to him. He saved everything, because you never know when you will need it. His sarcasm, stubbornness, hard-working and strong personality is going to be missed. He had a very strong will and fought like a warrior to beat the diagnosis, it was not his mind that lost the battle, but his body surrendered.
The basics: Born December 27, 1956 in Saginaw, MI the son of Lois and William Phillips. He married Kathleen Bouchy in 1977, retired from GM after 44 years, 2 sons: William (Melissa) Phillips, Archbold and Greg (Jen) Phillips, Holgate; 6 grandkids; siblings: Medora (Keith) Federspiell, Pinconning, MI, William (Kim) Phillips, Grand Haven, MI and Lynn Gutierrez, Oscoda, MI.
True to Ken’s private nature, he did not want a funeral. His family is planning a memorial lunch in the spring. In lieu of flowers the animal lover in Ken would request anything donated go to Animal House Rescue or the Fulton County Animal Shelter.
