Lillian Ann (Schwab) Chinni

October 8, 1920 — April 21, 2017

Lillian Ann (Schwab) Chinni age 96, of Auburn, Indiana died in her sons Auburn home on Friday afternoon, April 21, 2017 surrounded by family.

Her Legacy… She was born October 8, 1920 to Herman and Frances (Wagner) Okuly in New Bavaria.  On August 23, 1939, she married Elmer Schwab.  He died on November 2, 1970.  Together they had 6 children: Joyce Vance, Temperance, MI, William Schwab, Holgate, Sharon (Howard) Neff, Defiance, Michael (Joey) Schwab, Holgate, Richard (Diane) Schwab, Auburn, IN   and Mary Jo (Gary) Brown, Holgate.  She was blessed with 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.  Also surviving is one sister Mary Rose Battershell, Hicksville.  Lillian was an LPN working 18 years for the Henry County Hospital.  Lillian married Leo Chinni and he died June 24, 2001.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society.  In addition to cherishing her grandchildren, she enjoyed puzzle books, playing cards, scratch off tickets, needle point, crochet and listening to polka music.  She was preceded in death by an infant son Kevin, her son Michael and daughter-in-law Elaine Schwab, brother Bob Okuly, half-brother, Nicholas Gerschutz, Jr., step sister Cecelia (Alvine) Wagner, 3 step brothers, Al (Love) Gerschutz, Francis (Catherine) Gerschutz, Alto (Rita) Gerschutz, great granddaughter Allison Neff, son-in-law Larry Vance, and a daughter-in-law Susan Schwab.

Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Monday from 2-8:00 pm.  Everyone is welcomed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Holgate on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10:00 am with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Father Nick Cunningham officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Contributions made in Lillian’s memory can be made to American Cancer Society, Masses, or a charity of your choice.
