Mary Lea Heitman age 83, of Napoleon, died Friday, March 27, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Sylvania.
In Her Legacy… Mary was born to Perry Austin and Bessie Ola (Jones) Cooper on July 27, 1942, in Odessa, TX. She graduated in 1961 from Permian High School in Odessa. She married Julian "Corky" Heitman. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Mary had worked at several local businesses and even ran a used furniture store called Starter Stuff, but when she wasn’t working hard, she filled her home with love and joy. She had great love for her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a very positive person, had a smile for everyone and had a way of making you feel special. She loved a good story or a joke to make you laugh. She remained very close with her high school friends (LaLa sisters) and also was close with church friends, specifically Sandy Vocke.
Her Family… She is survived by her son Jeff (Connie) Heitman, Holgate; grandchildren: Andrew and Addison Heitman; and a nephew. Preceding Mary in death was her husband Corky on April 19, 2024, and her brother Leonard Cooper.
Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Family Funeral Home of Holgate on Monday from 4-7:00 pm and again in the church one hour prior to the service. The celebration of Mary’s life will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon with Pastors Marcis, Scheiwe and Bettcher. Memorial contributions can be made to the church or Hospice of NW Ohio. Please visit ZachrichFuneralHome.com to leave condolences online.
