Richard "Bill" A. Meinen

December 14, 1926 — February 18, 2012

Richard "Bill" A. Meinen, 85, of Holgate, died Saturday morning, February 18, 2012 at Vancrest Healthcare Center of Holgate.

His Legacy…Bill was born December 14, 1926 to Cleo and Gertrude (Wells) Meinen in Toledo. He was a graduate of Holgate High School. Bill was apart of the military police in the Army. He worked as a foreman for Campbell's Soup Company for over 30 years. Bill was an avid softball player for several years. He coached Holgate girls softball for many years and enjoyed watching the sport.

His Family…He is survived by daughters, Sharon Stephey, Holgate and Peggy (Kenny) Rastocan, Napoleon; two grandchildren, Nick (Dawn) Stephey, and Nate Stephey, Holgate; and three great-grandchildren, Jimmy Hall, Arianna and Hayden Stephey, Holgate. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roseann Hartzell; son, Gene Meinen; daughter, Linda Meinen; one grandson; one great grandson; and sisters, Berneice Paxton and Vivian Walters.

His Farewell Services…Friends and family will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate on Tuesday from 3-8 PM and one hour prior to the service. A celebration of his life will be on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate with Reverend Tamara Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Holgate American Legion and New Bavaria VFW. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's choice.
