Rogelio "Roy" Torres of Norwalk, California passed away suddenly and entered heaven's gates on December 22, 2018. He was born on July 19, 1953 in Napoleon, Ohio. He is the son of Jose & Hortencia (Espinoza) Torres. He lived in California for almost 40 years. Roy graduated Class of 1971 from Holgate High School. He then joined the USMC. He served his country for 23 years. He and his brother David were in the Desert Shield/Storm war together. Retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. Also worked at CoPart for the last 17 years. Roy loved to entertain family and friends with cookouts and his great sense of humor. Roy was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboy's and LA Lakers. His love for the Ohio State Buckeyes is beyond words. Among his favorite hobbies included Mexican music and dancing. Rogelio is survived by his loving kids, Ruben (Sarah) Torres of Defiance, Ohio, Sonia Hammrich of Oro Valley, Arizona, Espie (Chris) Gallagher of Temecula, California, Jose II (Monica) Torres of Pleasant View, Utah, and Alicia M Torres of Los Angeles, California and five grandkids. Parents Jose (Hortencia) Torres of Holland, Ohio. Brothers, Gilbert (Dee) Torres of Elkton, Maryland, and David Torres of Calhoun, Georgia. Sisters, Rosie (Saul) Castillo of Port Clinton, Ohio, andDelia (Mike) Mekus of Holland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his daughter Angelita Torres, grandparents, Manuel (Manuela) Torres, and Manuel (Eulalia) Espinoza.
Visitation is Friday from 3-7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 19, 2019 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Holgate with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.
