Rosa Marie Hopkins, a gentle soul who touched the lives of many, passed away on August 12, 2025, at her home in Malinta, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 20, 1933, in Greasy Creek, Kentucky, Rosa embodied warmth and kindness throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, with an unwavering dedication to taking care of those she loved.
Rosa had a fulfilling career at Campbell Soup in Napoleon, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 1990. It was more than just a job to her; it was a place where she cultivated friendships and demonstrated a strong work ethic that mirrored her values.
Outside her professional life, Rosa found joy and solace in her hobbies. She had a passion for gardening and loved nurturing her flowers, bringing beauty to her surroundings. Camping and making quilts were among her favorite pastimes, yet her greatest pleasure came from the time spent with her family. Whether gathering for holidays or simply enjoying everyday moments, Rosa cherished these connections, fostering bonds that would last a lifetime.
Rosa’s loving spirit found its counterpart on February 14, 1950, when she married her beloved husband, Arthur. Their partnership was an example of true love, enduring through the years until Arthur's passing on June 18, 2016. Together, they built a family that would grow to be her pride and joy.
She leaves behind her children: Arthur (Donna) Hopkins of Holgate, Carmel (Marlene) Hopkins of Napoleon, Anthony (Lisa) Hopkins of Malinta, Michael (Cathy) Hopkins of Napoleon, Sandra (Larry) Ward of Napoleon, Lois (Steve) Yocom of Napoleon, and Anita (Dennis) Wilhelm of Malinta. Rosa was also a proud grandmother to 21 grandchildren, a great-grandmother to 36 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandmother to two great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.
Rosa is survived by her beloved sisters, Florene Adkins and Geraldine Thacker, both of Pikeville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Sadie Hopkins; her loving husband, Arthur; four brothers; two sisters; and two grandchildren, including two great-grandchildren, all of whom she missed dearly.
