Ruben Herrera-Mendizabal age 92, died Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at his Napoleon home.

Ruben was born May 3, 1934 to Abilio and Adriana (Herrera) Mendizabal in San Jose Poaquil. After moving to the United States and was employed with General Motors in Defiance. He worked there for 35 1/2 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Holgate

Ruben enjoyed spending time with his 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to those grandchildren, he is survived by his children: Ana Lizeth Godwin, Victor Manuel (Veronica) Mendizabal, Irma Yolanda (Alfonso) Ramirez, Ruben Abilio (Luz) Mendizabal, Herbert (Gloria Karina) Mendizabal, Jose Leopoldo "Polo" (Monica) Mendizabal, and Luis Ernesto Mendizabal and sisters: Marina Mendizabal (Jose) de Estupinan, and Carmen Mendizabal (Jorge) Garoz. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 63 years Nelly Mendizabal and siblings: Jose (Mendizabal) Ezequel, Manuel, Angelica, Rosaura, Mario, Everardo, Carlos and Rodolfo.

Friends will be received on Monday, June 1, 2026 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Holgate from 9-11:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am. Ruben will be flown to Guatemala where he will be laid to rest. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Zachrich Family Funeral Home of Holgate.
