Walter Kenneth Junge age 78, died early Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

His Legacy… Walt was born March 22, 1938 to Emil and Martha (Tadsen) Junge in Holgate.  After graduating Holgate High School in 1956, he enlisted with the United States Navy and served 8 years in the Naval Reserves.  He first married Gundren Menga Klemm, and together they had a daughter, Catherine (Mark) Ballenger, Lancaster, OH.  They divorced and then married Barbara Jean Crider and together they had a daughter, Ann and a son, Mike.  They divorced and he married Janet Lee (Baker) Tadsen.  Walt received his Associates Degree from Lorain Community College and began working as an insurance agent employed for AAL and State Farm until he opened his own agency, The Heritage Insurance Agency, Elyria established in 1974.  He served as a bailiff for the 12th Judicial Circuit in Sarasota, FL.  Once he returned to Holgate, he became very active in the village working on various projects.  Walt loved organizing and attending his high school class reunions as well as collecting the Holgate graduating class photos.  He was a member of the William F. Helmke American Legion and the proud owner of the building where they were meeting.  He was active in many churches in his life but was currently a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Holgate. He was a Holgate village councilman and a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.  Singing was a passion, as he was a member of the Northwesternaires Barbershoppers.

He was very proud of his family… daughter, Barbara Ann Junge, Miami, FL and a son Walter Michael Junge, Orlando, FL; and brothers, Everett (Barbara) Junge, Minneapolis, Elmer (Rosalyn) Junge, Napoleon, Bernard (Linda) Junge, Rochester, IN; a sister Florence (Bernard) Dielman, Napoleon and a sister-in-law, Lillie Junge, Holgate.  Walt was preceded in death by his second wife Jean Crider, third wife Janet Baker, and a brother Raymond Junge.

His Farewell Services… A memorial service for Walt with military honors will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Holgate.  Friends and family are invited to the service, and the reception to be held immediately following the service.  Walt's ashes will be scattered by the family privately..
