William “Bill” Peper, age 88, of Holgate, died Wednesday evening at Vancrest Healthcare Center of Holgate.
His Legacy… He was born May 5, 1928 to Edmund and Helen Elizabeth (Hall) Peper in Auburn, IN. He graduated from Holgate High School in 1946. On May 29, 1949, he married Mary Lou Ott in Defiance. Bill was the owner of Holgate Lumber Company for 50 years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate.
His Family… He is survived by his wife of 67 years; daughters, Nancy (Scott) Zimmer, Napoleon, Janet Peper Drozd, North Prairie, WI, Mary Ann (Pete) Mendez, Holgate, Carol Peper (Jeffrey) Sawyer, Bowling Green; 4 grandchildren, Evan Mendez, Weston Mendez, Gretchen Drozd Sommer and Peter Drozd; brother Edmund (Jim) Peper. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bob and a grandson Andrew.
His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-8 pm and one hour before the funeral service at church. The celebration of Bill’s life will be on Monday at 11:00 am in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Greg Olsen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Contributions made in Bill’s memory can be made to Holgate Athletic Boosters or Vancrest Activity Fund.
