Helen W. Desgranges

Helen W. Desgranges age 97, of Holgate, died Monday morning, March 4, 2019 at the Defiance In-patient Hospice Center.

Her Legacy… Helen’s journey began when she was born on Christmas day in 1921 to George and Clara (Mills) Snyder in Metamora.  She graduated from Fulton High School in 1939.  During WWII Helen worked at Dickey Tent and Awning and then the Tillotson Carburetor Company.  She met Walter C. Desgranges at a dance in Delta .  The love-birds married January 22, 1949 in Lytton, Ohio.  Helen and Walter provided a loving and warm home for their seven children.  Helen was an amazing homemaker and farmers wife.  She was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate.

Her Family… Helen is survived by her children: Larry (Robin) Desgranges, Napoleon, Carol Agler, Napoleon, Joan Grahn, Holgate, James Desgranges, Holgate, Rick (Pam) Desgranges, Holgate, and Kenneth Desgranges, Fennville, MI; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Robert) Carter, Delta and care givers Marsha Baldwin and Helen Wilson.  Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband Walter on July 28, 2017; a daughter Patricia Ann; son-in-law’s, Thomas Agler and Andrew Grahn; brothers: Robert, Paul, Donald, Gerald and Franklin; and sisters: Anna Mary Stoll, Marguerite Lueke, Dorothy Hill, and Ruth Griffin.

Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate from Thursday from 2-4 and 5-7 pm and one hour before the service at church.  The celebration of Helen’s 97 year  life will be Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00 am with Reverend Roger Marlow officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Contributions made in the memory of Helen Desgranges can be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, CHP Defiance Hospice or a cha rity of your choice.
