Russell David Okuley

Russell David Okuley age 74, of Findlay and formerly of New Bavaria, died Monday evening, June 3, 2019 at Fox Run Manor, Findlay.

His Legacy… Russ was born March 1, 1945 to Lester and Mildred (Collins) Okuley in Defiance.  He graduated from Holgate High School in 1963 and then proceeded to work at General Motors, as a mill wright for the next 30 years.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria.  He was married to Virginia Johnston from 1964 to 1985.  On November 21, 2012, he married Alene K. Renz.  Russ was on the New Bavaria Volunteer Fire Department and he enjoyed antique tractors of all kinds.

His Family… He is survived by his wife, Alene; sons: Gary (Sandy) Okuley, Defiance, John (Tricia) Okuley, Ashville, OH, Scott Okuley, Ashville, and Jeremy (Renae) Okuley, Defiance; four grandchildren: Paige, Owen, Nova, and India; and sisters: Eloise Kreuz, Buffalo, NY, Vivian Beerbower, Defiance, and Winifred Mangas, FL.  Russ was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia and his brother Edward.

His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Family Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Thursday from 4-8 pm.  We will welcome everyone at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria Friday, June 7, 2019 at 10:00 am with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Father Nick Cunningham officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Contributions made in Russell’s memory can be made to the New Bavaria Volunteer Fire Department.
